multiplayer using playfab

Hi!

I am trying to create a game (in unity) which requires a lobby and that it hosts the match such that players can connect to and play and players can also drop out after they lose (so in the end, maybe only the winner is still connected).

My question is:

a) with the basic playfab tier, am I able to use playfab for the features that I require for my game? if not, what tier will I need?

b) can the new multiplayer features satisfy my requirements?

c) can the legacy multiplayer features satisfy my requirements?

thanks!

Hi Eric,

PlayFab multiplayer is available with Indie, Pro and Enterprise tiers. Lobby implementation is a feature of multiplayer and should satisfy your requirement. I recommend opting for the new multiplayer over the legacy. At some point after we release the new matchmaker, we will be deprecating it, but that simply means that it will eventually no longer be in our SDKs or documentation. Here's the complete write-up of our deprecation process: https://blog.playfab.com/blog/deprecation-visibility

Hi Eric,

In addition to my original answer, you can reference matchmaking here: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/gaming/playfab/features/multiplayer/matchmaking/
