Setting a TitleDisplayName empty does not unassociate the name.

When I change a user's TitleDisplayName to an empty string, that name is still unavailable, and I can search for the user using that name.

Admin/DeleteUsers does not unassociate the name either.

Yes, it's a known issue that updating a user's name or deleting a user doesn't necessarily free up the name in question for others. We have an open issue on this, but it hasn't been considered a high priority as no developer has raised it as an issue previously.
