player vs character inventory limit

There's a limit category for "Player inventory items" -- "Total number of items in a player's inventory."

Playfab's overall terminology and structure of the limits would suggest to me that there should be a limit for "Character inventory items". Since there is none, I have to assume you mean for the Player Inventory Items limit to apply to sum(player,characters...).

If that's the case, can you please explain it better in the limits UI/tooltips? Otherwise can you set me straight?

We're in the process of updating the limits system for PlayFab overall, as reflected in our pricing page update (https://playfab.com/pricing/details/#pro-full). You are correct that you should consider Character inventory items as applying against the total of inventory items for the Player (they use the same amount of resources, either way), but we're triple-checking the new limits to make sure they're as generous as we can make them. We'll update the docs to make sure this is clear as part of that process.

I've been looking at the a la carte limits system for months and planning around it, watching it get revised and clarified on a near-weekly basis.

This pricing page seems to indicate a completely different methodology. I don't even know what to do with this pricing page. What does this have to do with me and how does it relate to the limits system? What's a module? "Total Flexibility" -- how? The link to the limits page is gone.

What we found was that the piecemeal limit system we introduced last year was overly complicated and that for the sake of our developers as well as the business itself, we needed a simplified model. To do that, we're moving to the pricing you see on the pricing page, with each "module" being a section of the feature set (https://playfab.com/features/). So, everything under "Players" is one module, "Tournaments" is a module, etc. The limits under the new model are shown on the pricing details page (https://playfab.com/pricing/details/#pro-mix). The reason the "mix & match" tier says "total flexibility" is because you choose only the modules you want to use, but if you have custom needs, we can also have our business team work with you on an enterprise contract, if that works.
