While we do check that the email is a valid format, in order to check if an email address actually exists on the domain in question would require connecting to the mail server directly and querying it to see if the email address exists. Unfortunately, in addition to the potential for introducing extreme delays in the process, that query isn't universally supported, so there's no guarantee it would work.
