Is the API going to be changed to allow Steam friends to show when friends list is set to 'friends only' on Steam profile?

This seems like a fundamental problem linking the Steam account with Playfab, but not being able to see the friends if a user has got this option selected.
This also stops the user from being able to see their Steam friends on the leaderboards...

Is there a solution to this problem?

Cheers,

Will

When your steam account has set the friends list to be “friends only”, then only you and your friends are able to get that list. Which means that we cannot use the steam web API to get your friends list to verify who is also a PlayFab user. As we cannot call steam web API on behalf of you, we call the API on behalf of PlayFab. You can refer to Steam Web API - Valve Developer Community (valvesoftware.com), which also mentions “Returns the friend list of any Steam user, provided their Steam Community profile visibility is set to "Public".”

Hi thanks for responding. This doesn't really answer the question of is playfab going to change the way the currently approach it?

I understand the current method and it's limitations, but to me it just seems like an oversight. It would be much better if there was a solution that could get friends that are part of someones friends list

The current situation is that only the first party can get the complete friend list, and as a third party, we do not have permission to obtain it. If you have any ideas, we are open to suggestions.
