100,000+ user accounts

What is the price for Playfab's new pricing system with over 100,000 unique users? For FreetoPlay games, you may have over 100,000 registered accounts, even with a MAU of 50,000. It's difficult to remove, as your account may be restarted.

Yes, the 100K limit on user accounts in Development Mode is so that you can develop and test your game without incurring any costs in our core services. For many developers, a limited beta would also be able to work within this limit. But yes, popular games will exceed that number of users. In our new consumption-based model, there is no "set" cost - you only pay for specifically what you use. Generally speaking, many well-optimized Indie games will fit into our included meters in the Standard tier (https://playfab.com/pricing/). But the full details of how our billing meters work and how to calculate usage are in our documentation, here: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/gaming/playfab/features/pricing/meters/meters

You can also check your usage in the Billing Summary page for your title (which is now available to all developers, regardless of which billing plan you're in). Just click on the "..." on your studio from the main PlayFab home page to get to that.

Thank you. Even if there are more than 100,000 accounts registered in live mode, is it the same calculation method? Then it's wonderful!

Hi Brendan. It seems that you are saying that in Pay-as-you-go, you may have unlimited user profiles, but you will pay for the read/writes etc. However, in development mode, you have 100,000 user limit, and no limits on read/writes etc. The pricing page says that there is a limit of 100,000 users in pay-as-you-go, standard, AND premium, for "development titles" but it says "unlimited" at the top of the page in the summary of pay-as-you-go, standard, and premium, but with free to start it says "Development Mode, Up to 10 Titles with up to 100k users per title."

This page initially describes "development mode" within "free to start" as a seperate pricing structure to the other pricing structures, with up to 100,000 users. Then further down the page it puts the "free to start" thing WITHIN the other pricing structures, describing all "development titles" as having 100,000 user limit for all pricing structures. I now do understand what this page is trying to say but it is deeply misleading and confusing as I was guessing that perhaps it meant "up to 100,000 users playing a game at one time" to explain why even the most expensive tiers had the same limit of 100,000.

Please fix this page

All usage of the core services by titles that are not in Development Mode is charged based on their metered consumption.

Development Mode is orthogonal to the concept of tier. All tiers can have Development Mode titles. Development Mode titles are not charged for core service usage, and are limited to a total of 100,000 player accounts.

Please note that CDN, Party, and server hosting are not part of the core service. We provide limited free hours of server hosting in specific server models and regions, and some limited free hours of Party use for free each month. Any use outside that is charged at the rates stated in the pricing page (and linked server pricing page), regardless of tier.

If you have any specific recommendations for ways to re-state this on the pricing page, please do let us know.
