What controls the server player count?

I've been creating servers and creating matchmaking tickets/assignments that appear to work, I can call GetMatch on a matchId and get the correct server details, but I'm wondering what sort of registration work I have to do RE: player presence in a server?

Do I need to call something to say they've "joined" a server post-matchmaking? What about when they leave, do I need to capture that and forward that to PlayFab somewhere?
