Also I need to have a way to send game-join invite to a friend and that the friend will receive it right away and will be able to accept or decline.

What you're looking for is a way to subscribe to events as they occur in the service - what's commonly referred to as a "PubSub" system (publish/subscribe). This solution looks interesting, I just wonder how would one know when a player is offline?
are there any events/heartbeat from SignalR that could help?
