Do I have to buy Standard Plan to publish a game? [New Pricing]

Hello everyone,

We were about to publish our game on Play Store but we saw the new pricing. According to the new pricing, we cannot publish our game unless we buy the Standard Plan? It says up to 10000 players per title for development titles. Does it mean if we publish the game on Play Store, 10001th player cannot play the game?

EDIT: The title was created before the new pricing was announced

EDIT 2: There was no player limit for Essential tier, which is nice. 10000 players is not enough to see if the game succeeded and see if it is worth it to buy a higher tier since a user can create as many PlayFab account as they want. Some players may not even return to the game at all but they still count for the 10000 limit

If your title was created before the new pricing plan was announced, and you have not explicitly chosen to move to the new pricing, you are in a legacy pricing tier. We very much want to make sure developers have the time they need to optimize their titles for the new pricing, so all pre-existing titles have at least six months to optimize before they need to move to the new pricing.

Theoretically, you don’t have to upgrade the title to the launch mode because it is optional. As far as I know, when the 10,000 limit has been exceeded, players won’t be able to register new accounts on this title.

For more information about the new pricing, you can reach out to our sales team using the Contact Us form on the PlayFab main site: https://playfab.com/contact/.
