How does Playfab Integrate with GameLift?

Hello,

i am figuring out my backend for my game, i would like to know how PlayFab utilized AWS Servers..

1) can Playfab API replace the AWS gamelift API, as i am having issues with gamelift API with unity..

2) so when i make a build using Playfab Server 2.0, does playfab automatically make the connections to AWS Servers?

3) also would i need extra steps outside of playfab to make this connection work?

thank you.

So, you are using GameLift for server hosting instead of the service provided by PlayFab Server 2.0 in Azure? If that's the case, you may need to create a separate system to manage your servers.

We would recommend you use our newer server hosting model, which is in Azure. But yes, it is high availability, auto-scaling, available in many globally distributed data centers, supports both WIndows and Linux, etc.

For 2 and 3, we have full docs on our server hosting and matchmaking in our doc site. Specific to connecting to the servers, the write-up is here: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/gaming/playfab/features/multiplayer/servers/connecting-clients-to-game-servers
