Process for Migrating Players from one studio to another

Hi, This is a very important question for us, because we will be migrating from Essential studio to Enterprise Studio after a specific time.

Could you please explain the process of migrating (100 million players) from one studio to another.

Time it would take? any complications?

In essential tier we are not using custom game server because That level of security is not required, but after a specfic timewe'd like to update our game by using custom game server of playfab.(any complications here i.e login and stuff?).

Let me rephrase the question:

A game is running in essential tier(with 50 million MAU), the owner now wants to upgrade the essential tier to Enterprise tier because they want to use custom game servers. In this scenario How would it happen? are there any limitations? How would this transition of game from solely client authoritative to custom game server take place? Any tips you can share please?

Hi Talha,

I believe you are talking about migrating a title to another studio. There are few things you need to know:

  1. The publisher id will remain from the previous studio and it would be impossible to share the player’s data between the titles of the Enterprise Studio you are about to migrate into.
  2. Members of the previous studio would not be able to access the migrated title once it’s moved to the new studio
  3. Titles from Essential Studio and the migrated one will still share the master player record, for instance, if your Essential studio has two titles and a player has played both, then both those titles share that player's master player record, even after the one title is moved to your Enterprise studio. That means that if either title unlinks an authentication mechanism (device ID, Facebook, etc.), the player will no longer be able to log into that player account in either title using that authentication mechanism.
