The Client/Matchmake API call is used to ask the PlayFab matchmaking service to find an open slot for the player, while the Matchmaker API calls are designed to allow a developer with a custom matchmaker to integrate it into our service so that the Game Server Instances are all running in our environment, with all that gets you (management, log storage, etc., etc.).
