Hi,

We are making a console game for Asia / China market, can we host our game server in AWS Beijing for better network connection? If yes, how to setup in Playfab?

Thanks.

If you're referring to custom game servers, we offer hosting in the Singapore, Japan, and Australia regions. You can also host your own servers anywhere in the world, including Beijing, using our external server hosting API calls to integrate with our matchmaker (https://api.playfab.com/docs/tutorials/external-game-servers).

If you mean the core PlayFab service itself, we can work with Enterprise customers on private instances of PlayFab running in other regions.

In any case, please note that due to issues with communication through the great firewall, for you to have a stable, low-latency connection to non-China resources (which would be necessary in all the models described), the best route is by using an existing edge service. We worked with Akamai to validate and test out their edge solution, which they can make available to PlayFab customers. Please note that this does require that you or your publisher have a presence in China, as you do need to have a valid China-based site where you can set up a CNAME to forward the traffic (for which you need an ICP from the Chinese government). If you're interested in that, please let us know and we'll put you in touch with our friends at Akami.
