Are drop tables and bundles / containers limited to the same catalog?

We are currently trying to create a chest system to give users a random item. We are using a combination of drop tables and bundles to do this.

The problem we are facing is when creating a drop table that is included in a bundle any items in the drop table that are not in the same catalog as the bundle item are not being added.

I also noticed that when creating a bundle and adding items it only allows you to select from other items in the same catalog. Is this a current limitation? Would there be any other options for a drop table / bundle that can give items across catalogs.

Thanks!

Correct - the design is that a catalog version is exactly that - a version, so that you can pair it with a version of your game. Bundles and containers then draw from a single catalog, as do shops. Basically, all the components are catalog version related. The idea being that you would have a version of your catalog for your game, and then, when you update, you would add the new items to make a superset of that catalog, and use the same ItemIDs. We are working on an update to the Game Manager that will hopefully make this easier to see as you're working on your economy tab.

Thanks for clearing that up Brendan. We had been using catalogs a little differently, but that makes sense now.

One more quick question. Is there anything on the roadmap or any way to have sub categories or folders within a catalog? We have a rather large number of items and navigating through them all in one catalog list can be challenging.

Thanks!

We are planning on adding filtering, based on Tags, though we don't have a specific date for that as yet. Sorry I can't be more specific, but until a feature or change is actively in development, we're cautious not to promise dates, since they could change (and one of the last things that we'd want is for someone to be relying on a date that was speculative).

Ok thanks! Its good to know something like that is in the backlog. These catalogs can get pretty massive :)
