I'm in the same boat, 503 error as well when I try to retrieve inventory data
I'm having the same problem, I've got this error:
"503 Service Unavailable"
I'm getting InternalServerError too.

Yes, we detected the issue (an increased number of error responses) when it occurred, and tracked it down. The issue was due to a database cluster going offline. The full details are posted to our status page: http://status.playfab.com/incidents/yh50mxky29pn, but the issue has indeed been resolved.
