I would recommend keeping an eye on the News feed in the Game Manager, as well as the PlayFab blog site (https://blog.playfab.com/blog) and roadmap (https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/gaming/playfab/roadmap/). Any new functionality will be announced in those spaces.
For now, yes, our Azure Functions Cloud Script integration would be the way to enable crafting.
