New pricing unfair? Are 10k or 100k per title free?

I dont understand the new pricing. Your pricing page

says:

Free

Development Titles Up to 100,000 players per title

and

PlayFab remains free (for up to 10,000 unique players..)

Your titles can remain in Development Mode if you

have 10,000 or fewer unique player accounts

It says:

PlayFab is moving from a MAU-based pricing model to

a usage-based pricing model

for up to 10,000 unique players with some other limits

and

This change provides the flexibility for developers to

use a little or a lot of PlayFab and only be charged for

what they use.

Both are conflicting. 100k is not 10k and unique

players instead of active users is not fair.

Example:

Game generates 100k downloads within 3 years. Now,

2 month later, it has 103k (downloads) unique users,

but just 300 active players. Now, with new pricing, I

would need to pay 100$/month, for this 300 mau. Did I

understand something wrong? Because if this example

would be right, the new model would be very unfair.

I think the "Worry free Pricing" from Photon would fit well in Playfab as a third plan. It would have to restrictions:

-MAU

-Total data stored for your project

The plan could be priced like this:

0.5$/1k MAU

0.1$/GB

per month.

This would personaly for me be the best plan because I would need not a lot of storage but a pretty high amount of unique users.

And if traffic should be payed, I would do it also like Photon with 3GB free trafic for every MAU and for each GB after the free amount 0.06$. This would be in my opinion fair.

When we launched the consumption pricing update, we had Development Mode titles limited to 10K player accounts. Shortly after that, and based on developer feedback, we increased that to 100K player accounts. We have a bug open to get the FAQ updated to reflect that, but the 100K in the pricing info up above that is correct. In both cases, they are referring to total user accounts, not active players. However, you can delete old player accounts that you want to expire at any time, to keep yourself under that limit.
